Default Jiffy Stand

Checking and lubricating jiffy stand today as part of maintenance, and found on the metal leg stop that is sits with a very, very small fraction of the metal touching the mount. I checked the manual, but it doesn't mention the amount that needs to hit the frame once the jiffy stand is down.

Does any one know?
Thanks,

Monte

I will never get used to the term "Jiffy Stand". It sounds like someone selling popsicles.

Harley named it a Jiffy Stand in the 1920`s, long before the term kick stand or side stand came about, since they invented this type of stand on a motorcycle, they got to name it also.

Not much engagement of the tab when bike is upright and stand is deployed. I did notice this sometime ago like the OP but it is what it is.

That's normal. It is that way so that if you start riding with the stand down, the jiffy stand can freely swing up when it touches the road while the bike is in motion.

I didn't ask if it was normal and please don't attempt to school me on, of all things simple, a kick stand. I posted the picture for your benefit, you didn't understand what the OP was talking about.

Funny, since I was a kid and all through my riding years I never heard it called a "jiffy stand" till I got on this forum.
