Default 2022 SGS - Stiff clutch

Just a question and a job that I always postpone for health reasons, usually.

My 2022 SGS has a stiff feeling in the clutch at some point, the first few mm go smoothly when squeezing the clutch lever, then it becomes a bit stiff
and then smooth again. Has this in any gear or rpm /speed. I would suspect a bad cable or a twisted cable somewhere is this something known or
has anyone else experienced this problem? if so what was the solution or problem ?

If you feel comfortable enough, perform a proper clutch adjustment and change fluid. If that does not help lets see...

Thanks for the reply !

I don't think adjustment of the clutch will be the cause because it works as it should, shifting also goes smoothly, even finding neutral is no problem. It feels more like the
cable or something else has a fixed point, because it is a cable operated clutch, not hydraulic.

So I was wondering if this is a known problem with the M8 SGS or if anyone else has had this too, I have never had this problem with any of my M8 Softails.

Seems like a competent mechanic would need to pull the primary cover and inspect the clutch/clutch basket. Not many of those at Harley dealerships these days.

I would try to find a good Indy who would take the time to try to identify and fix the issue.

Have you ever lubed the cable?

Is that spring where the 2 cable join hanging up on the cable cover and/or the red buttton sticking out a bit and causing friction?

I have indeed already checked that, the problem has actually been there since I bought the bike new and perhaps I should have gone back then, but I am not a dealer fan.

Immediately after purchase I replaced the handlebars and also exchanged the levers with those from Rick's. So if I had gone back, that would probably have been the cause
in their diagnosis. I will then start by disassembling the entire cable and see if there is still a fixed point in it, hopefully because that will be an easy fix.

I just hoped that it had been a "common" problem that someone here would say it was this or that

Some have written that the H-D plastic lined clutch cables are not supposed to be lubed. I'm not sure about that. What's the best lube for an H-D clutch cable? Is it better than no lube?

Based on the "fixed" point in the cable, I lubricated it, I used a silicone based oil for this.
