Howdy all,

This evening when I was going out for a bit on my 2023 Ultra Limited that I got about three months ago it went into limp mode with the CEL illuminated. I went home and connected to the tuner with my phone and these are the codes it is listing:



Dang that pic was bigger than I thought it was. Anyhow anybody seen a mishmash of codes like this? Bike has just over 2000 miles on it. I'll call the dealer in the morning but figured I'd post just in case anyone has been hit with something like this before. I'm hoping it's not something they have to keep over a month to figure out.

 

Check your battery terminals. Make sure they are clean and TIGHT.

 

It’s in warranty, take to dealer, after you remove the tuner.

 

What tuner do you have? If it's anything but a Harley tuner, then you might not have a warranty anymore.

 

He has the SEPST, so warranty is not a concern.

 

Not glad that you had this issue, but really glad you posted about it. I have almost the exact same issue as you.

Was on a ~3K miles trip last week and this happened during the trip. Was about to accellerate in 3rd gear and my ’23 Road Glide went into limp mode and the guages lit up with warning lites. Put it in Diagnostic mode and had the following codes:
ECM:
P1100
P1511
P2135

BCM:
B2151
B2156

ABS:
C1100

I cleared the codes and shut the bike off to give myself a min to look over the bike as I was stopped on the shoulder of the road. Couldn’t find anything wrong visibly, so turned the bike back on and no more warning lights and no more limp mode. Went on with life and enjoyed the rest of the trip.

Then, yesterday I go to hop on the bike to ride to work and as soon as I got out of the driveway, gauges lit up again with warning lights. I pulled back in to the garage and checked the codes. This time I left them and called my local dealer. happily, I didn’t immediately void the warranty on this bike, so they’re going to pick it up today and get it on a lift tomorrow, we’ll see what they find.

The codes it has as of yesterday are:
ECM:
P1100

BCM:
B2151
B2156

ABS:
C1100
C1032

 

I had something similar happen. On a trip, everything going fine, all of a sudden the bike goes into limp mode. Got the P1100 code and some others. Made it to a dealer, their diagnosis was that I had spun the rear wheel on some sand, gravel, or other debris (I was riding through a town with lots of stop signs and stop lights) and it caused the ABS to think it had malfunctioned, thereby triggering limp mode. They cleared the codes and did a test ride. No problem since. they said if it happens again, turn the bike off, then restart.

Glad my car doesn't go into limp mode when I spin a tire! Imagine having to shut it off and restart every time. What a bunch of poppycock.

 

I don’t know about your car, but cars can go into limp mode, too.

 

Thanks for the info druski. How did you clear your codes? Is there a way to do it without the SE tuner? I have the SE tuner and connected my phone to pull the codes to email my dealer. They sent a truck and trailer to pick up the bike the next day (two days ago) and it was still in limp mode with the CEL illuminated when we loaded it onto the trailer. When I talked to them yesterday they said that it was not in limp mode when they started it up and their diagnostic tool said it had been fifty miles since it threw the codes. I told them it shut down just a little ways out of my driveway. We'll see what they say after further digging.

I was real hesitant to buy a new bike. I've never owned a new one before and had personally seen countless folks having major problems with the new motors. I hoped that by waiting as long as I did I might get something reliable. This is really disheartening to say the least. I'm hoping that if we keep this thread alive for a bit maybe someone will chime in that had a similar issue and might have found an actual cause.
