Default TCMT Chopped Tour Pack

I decided to order the TCMT Chopped Tour Pack from Amazon.

I did get the “base plate”, but it was really overly large to fit nicely inside so I cut it down. Someone may chime in and say that I was doing it wrong, but I like this setup - once and clean.

I waffled between the King and Chopped, but size wise, I think this is going to work well.

For the price, I think it is really nice. The finish on the ABS plastic is clean and a good match for the bike, it is stable and everything looks and feels pretty factory.

for me.

On the base plate. I got what came with the package, and it was huge.- the liner would not fit as it was designed. I can only guess it is meant for the king with speaker pods or something.

After a little research I noticed Amazon does have base plates that would fit and match my cut down version, If I were to do this again, that is what I would get.

This is what you want:

I was curious how much you can save with this option so zipped over to Amazon, put in TCMT Harley Tour pack, and almost spit out my coffee. Complete it is less than the damn riders backrest on the king tour pack. I had an Advanblack on my Low Rider ST as it was the only real option but they are not competitive at all with this option and too close in price to actual Harley packs on tour models to matter.

I suppose if I knew someone I could trust to color match this would be great inexpensive way to have this much storage for the times I need it.

A Tour Pack was always in the plan, and I was prepared to go Advanblack - but based on the price and reviews, the Amazon pieces we way too good of a deal to pass up.

At this price, if I want to get a King just for flexibility, it’s no lift at all.

Here’s my review from a couple years back. Still going strong. Will be swapping it over to my 24 when I get the new bike.

I read your thread and I think it had a lot of good takeaways. Locktighting all the bolts was absolutely on my to do list during the install.

What I didn’t expect is how much I was going to like the bag. I waffled between the King and the chopped for a long time before I pulled the trigger…

Like my Road King, I expected to just use it on trips and leave it off most of the time. But I have not taken it off since I installed it. I use it constantly and almost never go to the saddlebags anymore. Chopped was absolutely the right size for my needs.

Your tour-pak looks good. I installed a King tour pak on my '24 Road Glide. First bike I've ever owned with anything other than saddlebags.

Like you, when I installed it, I really didn't know how much I'd like it. It's removable, but I haven't taken it off since I got the bike on the road 3000 miles ago. What's nice is that unlike a saddlebag, when you open it, the contents right there at waist level. You don't have to bend over fumbling through a saddlebag. Especially the one on the low side.

Plus I use two helmets. On nice warm sunny days, I use a half helmet. If there are high winds, rain, or it's really cold, I use a modular. I carry one or the other in the tour pak and swap as required. And.. From the time I first installed it months ago, I planned on buying a large pizza and carrying it home in the pak.. By coincidence, last evening was the very first time I actually did it.

I went with the king and have been thrilled with it so far. Like it so much I plan to order a chopped as well just to be able to mix it up.

I am deciding how I want to go about my tourpak on my new bike. I have a black denim chopped with chrome hinges. New bike is white with black trim. I’m thinking of either getting my pack painted white and changing the hinges to black, OR buying a black pack with black hinges. I think the black pack would look okay with the rest of the bike.

Either way, it will be the TCMT pack. They’re awesome.
