Default Primary Drain Plug Sealant

What do you guys use as a sealant on the drain plug?
I've been using teflon tape.

I use teflon tape as well.

20 years in the shop all plugs in oil - Yama bond 4

How clean and oil free to the threads have to be with these various sealants?

Just wipe it off and paint the threads and install
