Default Long FOB range

Today the security guard came in and alerted me that I had left my headlights on. Went out to turn them off and then for grins turned the off-on-accessory switch back to on and tried the start button. It started. Between my FOB and the bike is a chain link fence, two walls and about 50 feet. Don't think it should be able to start in that distance without the fob present. About 1.5 months ago, I dropped a fob, ran over it and got a replacement fob and barrel key. Dealer programmed this new fob for me. Guess I am going to have to do a little more testing.

Go about 100-150 feet with the Fob and if it still starts you either have a Fob hidden on the bike or your security system has been disabled for some reason.

Are you sure the spare isn't in a bag?

My FOB range is barely the length of the bike. I can leave my FOB in the saddlebags and it starts but about a foot further and nothing.

I haven't tested the distance for the fob on my current '16 RGU. But when I bought my new '13 RGC I went to a friends out in the country--no interference from anything. I kept walking further and further from my bike and my friend kept starting the bike. I had walked about 50 yards before the bike wouldn't start and the siren went off.

Something definitely isn’t right. Like most everyone says it shouldn’t start when fob is a few feet away, including mine.
Call the dealer

You already had the ignition on. Only needs the FOB during the initial turn-on period. If you turned the ignition off and then back on you would have been prompted for your PIN since the FOB wasn't in range.

I have not had a chance to test it - had to leave town last night - but I did turn the off-on-accessory switch to off and then back on prior to attempting the restart. Nope on spare FOB being around. The new one is hanging on my keyboard at the house. Get to test it this afternoon or in the morning. My initial thought was the dealer did something when the replacement FOB was programmed.
My off-on-accessory switch has been kind of a pain. Have to really hold it down for the locked position to remain locked.
