Jiffy Stand versus Kick Stand

Jiffy Stand versus Kick Stand
I searched but did not see this question answered.
Harley Davidson calls it a "Jiffy Stand". But we all know of it as a "Kick Stand".
Why does Harley call it a Jiffy Stand?
The only thing I can think of is because someone has the rights to the terminology to Kick Stand.
It is like saying Kleenex versus tissue. Or Jacuzzi versus hot tub.
The above is only my conjecture. Does anyone really know the answer?

I will see if I can drop a line to HD themselves. If/when I get a response from the source itself I will come back here and share it with everyone.

well it will park you in a jiffy!!!
mr. rhino makes a point.
the old stands really did not lock and the machine could be rolled forward and fall over. my 74 ch is like this.
i once dropped the machine because of that issue.
so it would fix you up in a jiffy!!!
i too would be surprised at any response from hd, but please let us know, the suspense is killing me!!!
