Default Rear Highway Bars

I bought a pair of these for my 73 FLH because I was thinking of getting the saddlebag rails. Anyway, I think what I ordered isn't what I got. I tried every combination of every possible place these things could mount and nothing works. I would appreciate if somebody could tell me where you mount these, even better would be a pic of each side if possible. Thanks.

Thanks John. I just need a picture of the rear guard installed. Either side, doesn't matter. I'm especially interested in where they bolt on as I can't get the ones I ordered to line up with any bolting points.

the blue is a 70 and the red is a 1971 that we restored its a 98 point show bike and the highest scoring AMF in the country - two points off for a is coloration in the starter button and the vinyl on the seat is from the incorrect era its early 80s material not early 70s

I've just picked up some 2nd hand rear crash bars and bags for my 79 shovel.
I'm trying to confirm if I need different top shock studs to mount the crash bars, as the current ones don't appear to have a space to fit them.
can anyone advise me please?

As Stock I thought All Shovelhead top shock mounts had Spacers where Guards would go!! SuperGlide Included!!
Edit H-D Part# 5960W

there is no spacer on my shock mount currently, and there is no room to for the bar bracket to fit between the fender strut and the hex section of the shock mount.

As you can see, there's no extra thread on the stud to allow space for the bar to mount, and if there was, would that put the shock out of alignment as it would push out the top mounting point the thickness of the mounting bracket
