The Dyna was released in 1991 and murdered in 2017. That means there is over 26 years of Dynas out there in dozens of configurations.

Which year Dyna to get is all based on the buyer/rider.

Budget -
Intended Purpose -
EFI vs Carb
ABS - No-ABS
Touring, Bar Hopping, Wheelies, Nostalgia
All Stock or Modded Up
Do you care how fast or powerful it is?
Gauge Pods or Console Gauges
Spoke Wheels or Cast Wheels
Single or Twin Disk
28-degree or 32-degree rake
Narrow Glide or Wide Glide

You really need to think about what you want, because if you grab one Dyna, but want other features, it adds up quick. So when you start picking features on that list above, you'll quickly narrow your selection.

As for "No Bad Dyna", there are bad Dynas. The bad ones are the ones that have not been maintained properly.

FYI, +06 has the largest aftermarket.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but I believe 1999-2005 has the most interchangeability of parts. Meaning affordability and availability of accessories.

I've got a 2001 Twin Cam Motored FXDX Super Glide Sport that I installed S&S Gear Driven Cams and oil pump in - Thats my particular favorite, then I have a 2003 Anniversary FXDL Dyna lowrider(also twin cam with S&S gear driven cams) -and until I installed better rear shocks it kept bottoming out(too soft). Given a choice,i'd like any carbureted EVO or Twin Cam Dyna, but the cam chain setup on the Twin Cam motors has to go . All my other bikes are S&S Motored EVO engines ,and as someone here mentioned earlier the EVO is the BEST engine( and in my opinion I agree ) .Shop around, decide on a budget and then find any Dyna that speaks to you .Theres so many GREAT used Dyna's out there on craigslist, cycle trader, ebay and other places now that the new so-called "Dyna" is a monoshock softail .I also like the 2017/17 Lowrider S . *If* you DO find an older EVO Dyna, seriously consider it-as well as it's mileage and maintenance and or performance upgrades if any ( and a Carbureted model is my preference as well ) .Good luck in your search and hunt and I hope you find a nice one .
