Hey guys, I just bought some Progressive 444's and want to install them. I'm working away from home and don't have any of my tools with me other than the basics. Wondering how I can lift my rear end to install the shocks myself rather than getting a shop to do it.
How do you make sure the thing doesn't tip over? Would a crappy car jack work? I assume whatever is lifting the bike needs to be wide enough to sit on 2 points otherwise it would tip.
I've used a car floor jack before with a piece of wood to stabilize it slightly. I'd say it's okay enough to do shocks but I wouldn't trust it for too long.
I did mine by myself. Do one at a time using a car scizzor jack to lift it just enough to mount the shocks. Will not need to be off the ground, just straight up, not leaning on jiffy stand.
