Ignition for 1984 FXSB
Hello, my 84 FXSB has a Dyna 2000i ignition. It's almost impossible to start it via the kicker. I have found out that this ignition is designed for electric start so it requires 2 x dead revs before firing and can't be reprogrammed.. I want to be able to start the bike via kicker, can anyone please advise the best ignition to do this, btw I'm in New Zealand so I'll need to purchase via ebay. Cheers

Hey Kees, long time no hear... How have you been....? The 2ki is reprogrammable. You will need a patch cable, a laptop and the software that came with your 2KI. You can make your own timing curve with as many dead revs as you need to help with the Kick starting. Or you can send it back to Dynatek and they can do it for you. By the way, Bike looks great..
Heard from Spanners lately....?

I actually took my compufire out of my 77FXE and replaced it with a Screaming Eagle ignition module that I had in my 98 Fatboy ( the one with adjustable curves) Along with a Cam position sensor from Standard Motor Products MC-SPA3 (found on Amazon) and the shovel kicks right up first time..

For kicking it I'm a Dyna S fan, skip's all the electronic nonsense and acts just like a set of points, simple, easy to set up & time and reliable. Only downside is your back to using an advance unit. Just buy a decent one like Rivera or All *****, check & lube it yearly they'll last a long time.
