Default 1980 FXWG Flame Colours

Hello all,

In the early 80’s there was a factory custom wide glide with flames on the tank that really appeals in a retro kind of way. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a copy of the design or the paint spec’s?

Or, is there an example in the north of England I could take a look at photograph?

Not my photos below but just for example:

Thanks

My dream bike!! I fell in love with that bike when I was a boy. A guy down the street had one. Goggle hunting Harley’s 1980 flames wide glide, he has a couple of them. Can’t help you with your questions but I share your vision.

Buddy of mine has one, he is the original Owner. He upgraded the motor a bunch of years ago to run a wee bit faster but overall the bike looks 99% stock. Looked good then still looks good today.

Give these guys a call, there website only goes up to 1978 but maybe they will know anyway. They are the paint code gurus for vintage Harleys.

The Wide Glide rules, it's the king of all HD's. All others kneel before the Wide Glide.

Yea, I'm a believer

In that case, I hope you'll forgive me but the flames are destined for a '04 Softail Standard... but the style is very similar with the same wide front end and bobtail fender.

Absolutely!

The entire reason I bought an '05 Night Train was it was so similar to my Wide Glide. I did plan on doing flames on the tank but I couldn't ever come to grips with the handling and the 'B' engine, so I sold it off.

But, it did look nice sitting in the driveway

Call the HD Museum, get the # from their website, they will connect you with archives and go from there. Maybe they have it, phone call won't hurt.
