Cant say as never seen it before. As long as it will not harm any of the paint, then whats to loose? Don't like it, peel it off. Its a consideration if it helps prevent rock chips.

Just curious on what you are basing your comment on about not using it? 1st hand experience or just the Amazon reviews?

One of the reviews says he called 3M and was told the product had been discontinued in November 2015 and that it has a shelf life of one year. I noticed the seller on Amazon is Overstock Xpress.

Yup, Checked this morning...
Thank you for contacting 3M, where we apply science to life.

3M Paint Defender was discontinued 2 years ago. The product has a shelf life of 1 year, so any Paint Defender that is found on the market is considered to be expired and we do not recommend applying the product.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

why are you even posting in this thread? its like you're angry about it and the only reason you're posting here is to bitch and complain.

If you don't like the product, fine. But some may want to give it a whirl for basic rock chip protection. Theres no harm in that. If the outcome sucks, peel it off.

yea, its not a perfect product, but if you're adjusting a neck bearing or replacing a headlamp bulb and already have the fairing off, its worth considering for rock/chip protection.

have seen more recent products that do the same thing and look more affordable and accessible. I'd give this a try on my fairing next year: Rust-Oleum® Rock Guard

if it fails miserably, just peel it off, no harm no foul. But even if it isn't perfect, it'll protect better then nothing.

Saw this on SPIKE TV on a custom car show. Another product worth looking at. I have never used it, but, Duplicolor make peelable paint items like this worth looking at for rock/chip protection.

I'd be interested is something like this for my saddlebag lids. My passenger seems to like to kiss the tops with her boots.

Anyone tried a spray on film or plasti dip on vivid black?

More....was looking at putting a coating on the front of my truck for rock/chip protection and ran across this. Pretty interesting. I know some use Plasti-Dip for the handles on their tools.
Reading a coat can last 3 years.

Sounds like guys are dipping their entire cars in it. Cant imagine it wouldn't work as well on a fairing for rock/chip protection.
