Default Replacing rear tail lamp bar questions?

Hey guys, when storing my bike last season, I pushed on the rear tail lamp bar that came factory on my 2006 Road King Classic and broke it. It is the really wide bar.

I have a replacement narrowed bar but wanted to know - can this bar be swapped out with the fender and rear wheel/tire in place or am I in for a big ordeal?

Any tricks or tips you can provide?

If you jack up the rear of your bike, so the rear wheel hangs down, you may get more space to work in around the back of your light bar.

I did one on my 2013 i could just reach under the fender. But it has a wider fender and tire than you do.

I just changed mine out recently. It's a bitch, but can be done. Not much room in there. The longer the wrench or ratchet the better. I didn't even think to try my air ratchet, which would have made it easy, if it would fit up in there. Stupid me.

On my 07 I used a 1/4 inch drive ratchet with the tire in place and the bike lifted. My bro did his with a box end ratcheting wrench again with the tire in place.

On my road glide I removed the large light and circuit board then used a 1/4 inch drive flex head ratchet to remove the 2 mounting bolts for the turn signal bar from the fender.

its not bad, i just did mine this fall. It was a pain in the *** while i was trying to figure it out. Take the tail light off, pull the plastic piece out, then work on the 2 nuts that hold the light bar in place. This is way easier than trying to get in from the bottom. The nuts are right there under the big square hole on the inside.
