2017.5 New Model Release Tomorrow
#101
Yup. There'll be those who think it's cool and murdered... I just see a bunch of black stuff that makes it look like a low-buck bike that I have to pay a premium for.
It's unfortunate, too. I was predicting this bike 8 years ago, and now I'm pretty sure that the blacked out bikes will be as desirable as a long chopper. I really like the King without all the accoutrements from 1970 like the badging on the fender tips and high mounted license plate. If they release some versions of it for 2018 with chrome options, I think they will have a hit.

Shortened version of the article:
"Fits into the “custom bagger” niche,
Trim-fitting saddlebags, lowered fender & low-mount license plate
Suspension & seat from a Street Glide Special
Blacked-out bits
9-inch-tall ape-hanger
26.4 inch seat height (vs 28.2)
781 pounds dry & 818 wet (vs 791 & 828).
The Road King Special costs a bit more —
$21,999, for the base model vs $18,999 for the entry-level Road King."
Love the look ......... is it worth 3 grand that ones up to the buyer.
I guess if you are going to make the same (or similar) changes it may be....
For me it depends on the color of the bike on weather I prefer chrome or blacked out.........

I like it, and for the people that want a blacked out bike, this is a much less expensive way to get there than a regular King.
If I were in the market for a King, this is the one I would get. The missing windshield is much less than buying stretched bags, and the Street Glide rear fender facia.

Just thinking out loud here myself; why mention a thread jack and do it, all in the same post?
