Now that the ball question is addressed, I was going to ask if you have considered just using a clear front phone holster?
I have one clipped onto my windshield Tbag pocket thingy.

so it is just below my line of sight for mapping/directions.

stop for gas, unclip and put in pocket.

easy and for me a $5 solution

Don't need a lecture on having my phone disrupting my driving. I only want it for playing music from Pandora or mp3.
Not sure what you are asking. But I used the RAM mount on my Harley Breakout. Worked great. No issues at all. If you go to the part Dept. they probably have one in stock. Take it outside and eyeball it on your bike to make sure. You can then order it online if you want to save a few bucks.

Hi,

I use a very similar setup on my '14 Streetglide. You will not go wrong with the RAM mount system. I made my own mount for the mirror holes as RAM did not have one available when I set mine up. Think I spent about $6 on mine, liked it so much I made two so I can use either side. Looks just like the one they sell now. I find the short arm to be just a little short and not have as much adjustability as the arm that I use. It also tends to put the phone right in the sight line of the mirror. I use the slightly longer arm that twists in the middle to allow me to bring the phone more towards the center line and out of the way of the mirror. By the arm twisting in the middle it allows a much wider way of mounting the X-Grip. A good friend of mine uses the X-grip on his side by side, and My son and I use them on our Harleys and have not had any issues with the phone falling out. I am pretty sure the new X-grips come with the rubber "keeper"

Here are some photos of my set up:

Hope that this helps,if you have any other questions let me know. Sorry the pics are not the best its dark in my garage.

I've been using that set up for years...works great. I recently changed out the mirror post base because I got ride of my fairing mounted mirrors and went to bar mounted mirrors.

I have the ball on the underside of the mirror (I have apes - top would be to high, and I use the mid sized arm, and it works great.

I like that mount.

Thanks everyone, I'm sure I will like it from what everyone is saying. The only negative might be blocking the mirror, if that happens I guess I will buy the mid sized arm. Thanks again for all the feedback.
