Poser's Coffee House, All Bullshit Accepted, Part VII
Ha, I knew I could count on you, Mark. David Byrne is a multi award winning pop artist, musician , writer, interpretive dance choreographer and intellectual who's introspective lyrics question the direction and motives of the American life experience as well as questioning the motivations and life styles of American culture. His visionary lyrics eerily foretell the clash of values held by our splintered society, especially in this contested decade of clashing radicals from both political and religious extremists. He has been awarded the Golden Globe, Grammy, and Oscar and been admitted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame as well as achieving acclaim for his interpretive art and architecture. His latest collaboration with Annie Clark were turned into a PBS special and is well worth looking into unless of course your taste in music runs to cat tails being pinned under rocking chairs and Mama being run over by trains. (mild snort). His lyrics in the video posted by Mark are 20 to 30 years old yet are strikingly predictive of today's society and political upheaval. Same as it ever was indeed. Open your minds Posers as you can't predict where you're going if you can't remember where you've been....

Once in a Lifetime
Talking Heads
And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself
Well...How did I get here?
Letting the days go by
Let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by
Water flowing underground
Into the blue again
After the money's gone
Once in a lifetime
Water flowing underground
And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife
Letting the days go by
Let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by
