Default Starting to look @ shovels

Started looking @ shovels. Prices seem steep. I'm patient so i will find one eventually. Hopefully! Found a frame with rebuilt motor and trans for 5995. Frame only no swing arm or front end. Sound about right or too much? Anything to look or look out for? Any help in the learning curve greatly appreciated.

You did not list your location, which means a lot when it comes to price...it my part of the world...shovels over 5k rarely sale...might be time for a road trip.

Sorry I'm in central PA. That particular setup is supposed to be rebuilt by reliable mech. and that's even a lowered price. Around here these things are being offered for sale at what I believe to be crazy prices. Don't know if they're moving or not but feel like I would be insulting sellers by offering what I think it's worth. Even iron heads are for sale for crazy prices in my opinion. Would like to get your insights so if I find a good deal I can grab it. And ride one of these freedom machines into the sunset! Lol! Thanks in advance.

You gotta take your time looking. I'm in Pa. also and you can easily get a good running (cone) shovel in pretty decent shape for $5500 to $7000.

For recent price reference, see the thread I started: “Finally … bought my first Shovelhead”

Last month a co-worker of mine located the bike in West Virginia. More of a shed find vs. a barn find. It had been sitting a few years. Looks better in the pics than in person and far rougher shape than any of my other junk. But it was complete, including the orginal mag wheels, for $3,500
