I also had one in the early 70's on a Panhead, that looked like the Billy Bike! A friend gave it to me, after I read an article in Easyrider, took it to a Foreign car parts store, they said it came off a Jaguar, bought a rebuid kit for a $1.98, hung it on a 50 Panhead, rebuilt motor, Sifton Cams, built by the Infamous Bob LaBrie, Concord, NH, who Built the 1st recorded 3 cylinder Sportster in the early 60's! My Pan, was a 2 kick, one to prime, one, ignition on ! Probably the Fastest Panhead in New England, from 1970 to 75 ? I still miss that bike !

But, getting back to your bike, I understand, bolting a Mikuni on, will give you 15 HP ? I have the original CV Carb on my 1999 FXSTC, stage 2 kit, with a Dynojet carb kit, with Thunderslide, it's like a modern day SU !

It's not. A fuel and air mixer/injector is what all carbs are. HP is created by the stuff that allows that fuel air mix to explode in a controlled manner.

I remember in the day all the guys with Holley Double Pumpers on fairly stock engines and intakes.

You get the most HP when all 4 strokes work together in unison.

But the fastest way to add 20hp is to slap a Holly 4bbl sticker on what ever you want to add HP to. A Hooker Headers sticker is worth another 15hp.
that's how race cars make HP they just add stickers

Default Weber on Shovelhead

What about one of these. I was at an auction last fall and part of the stuff came from a indy shop that has been closed for years. I got the Weber with the shovel and pan intakes as a set. I just couldn't pass them up. And I bought a box of parts that was mostly various intakes (most of them stock shovel). Box had two Sprint carbs that I have already sold on eBay. They paid for the box of parts and the Weber.
I have only seen Webers on Shovels/Pans in bike magazines from years ago.
Question is, "Do Webers work or are they just for show?"
