Default Can I add baffles to this exhaust system?

The previous owner told me this exhaust system is one step from drag pipes. So while it may not be as loud as drag pipes for me it's loud! Can I add baffles to these as I don't see a bolt to remove / change the existing baffles, or do I have to change the exhaust system?

You will need to replace them. Looks like maybe Pythons or Cycle Shack.

One step away from drag pipes.....have you looked to see if he punched out the existing baffles that are in there?

Looking into them with a flashlight I see some baffle so I don't think they are gutted? I was hoping to add a small baffle at the end to quiet them down as everything on eBay is used and the sellers have no knowledge of the sound levels. New pipes are $700+

Thanks again!

youcan probably weld the baffles in there.
or you might be able to cut those mufflers and keep the headers
Buy cycle shack or old OEM Screaming Eagle slip on mufflers (cheap)and you are good
Unfortunatelly nobody will be able to tell you how noise they are... depends on the bike and the personal taste of the person.

I am looking at Paghco 2 into 1 with universal muffler or dual exhaust. I sent them an e-mail asking for more information.

When I test rode another 82 FXR that had stock exhaust it was perfect. Not too loud. I hope these are close to that?

Thanks!

OEM mufflers are still available on ebay
the OEM headers with the crossover are harder to find... or you can find cheap drag pipes, cut them shorter and use them as headers, no crossover to worry about (mine broke on the welds)

I have been looking but they are all pretty beat up;( or if they are in decent share they want close to what I would pay for a new system.

I guess I will have to keep my eyes open or bite the bullet and purchase a new system form Paughco.

Thanks!

I was thinking these and some take-off mufflers?

No expert but that rear header pipe loks like it will make your set up a shotgun style exhaust system. Hopefully someone can judge better than I.

And you might be surprised on the ebay post by biginchustler. Not lots of folks looking for anything close to stock.
