I was thinking these and some take-off mufflers?

The others looked like the ones you have, these ones .. hard to tell.
You need specific FXR headers, they are different because the brackets u use will attache to the transmission (rear header) so you need specific bends there.

Whether you are patiend an wait for a good deal on ebay for FXR specific exhaust or you buy new:
-FXR shovelhead specific drag pipes aorund 180$ new
-Late shovel or early evo FX or FXST (almost the same nuffelrs) screaming eagle slip on mufflers about $70-100
-Cycleshack slip on mufflers about 100-150

Depending on what you find, you might need to be creative on the brackets.
On FXRs it's important that the rear header is attached to the transmission and to the main bracket that hangs from the rubber mount on the frame

yeah vtwins-- I had the finisher cones from a 2001 Honda prelude -- they slip on and are held by a 10mm bolt -- they reduce from the ID of the stock 1 3/4" pipe into a cone and down to 1.500 -- those finisher cones worked they will give you back low end on open drag pipes -- these work SO much better -- I don't think hes gonna like them as they are LOUD -- doesn't help to have that leinweber L3S cam either lol

V_twins, I really like the first pair, SE Baloney Cut but with that mounting tab I don't see how I can use the stock mount I currently have?

Found these that look like others you recommended and should work with the current mount?

Really appreciate your taking the time to provide options!

binginchhustler,

Your clearly an artist and good with a welder! A bit Mad Max! On my want list is a welder but for now I don't have that as an option. I assume I also would need access to a pipe bender? ;(

I think at this point I will take the advice to cut off the current mufflers and attach Sportster / Dyna mufflers.

most of those pipes are old pipes from assorted bikes and not just Harleys -- and that's TIG welding - its simple to assemble the angles and I cut the slotted mounting bracket off of old pipes also and reuse them --

1 thing when you make them -- the flange is perfect to the head -- no leaks

look under the front foot peg -- see that 1/2 pipe? I took a piece of old hyd jack pipe -- cut it length wise - made 4 pieces welded a piece of sq bar between them -- made 2 of them threaded 1 and drilled a hole in the other -- it makes a shell clamp to hold the 2 pipes with out using a pipe to frame mount --

theres 1 clamp by the tranny and behind the merge collector is the slotted piece and the mounting bar slides to the frame perfect alignment with no binds
