How can I tell someone what to look for if it's a true 82 FXR?
Trying to work out on a deal for a 82 FXR 400 miles away from the motorcycle and the owner says it's an FXR but can't remember if it's a 5 speed and can't tell if it's rubber mounted. He says the title says FXR but I want to be sure.
Will vin number tell me? Are the rubber engine mounts similar to an evo? What can I tell him what to look for?????
Thanks

EA in the vin indicates an FXR model, e.g. 1HD1EA...... is an FXR.
All the FXR frames are the V shaped frames.
If it is an FXR, it is a 5 speed, unless an after market tranny was installed.
If it is an FXR, it is rubber mounted engine.
Re; what to look out for, are the issues that come with having a shovelhead.
Good luck!

I have a '82 FXRS and it is an "EB", "EA" is for FXR. There will be a front mount and the transmission will be bolted to the engine. Transmission will be mounted to swingarm. '82 also came with stock S&S carbs, at least the FXRS did. They only made a little over 3,000 of each FXR, and FXRS.
