Default Scratched cylinder wall. Cylinder boring or new heads.

Hello

I discovered that one of the reasons why the bike is throwing smoke might be a scratched cylinder wall, if not, I just think i'ts not nice to have a scratched cylinder.

The engine is stock.

Could I try to fix this and take advantage of it gettin bigger compression pistons and just machining the cylinder a bit to make room for the bigger pistons? I've never donde that, I've usualy gone the "buy it " way, but i want to avoid spending on new pices it it can be fixed.

For those involved in previous engine modifications or restorations this may seem too obvious, but i sincerely don't know.

Any help will be apreciated.

Thanks

yes it's cheaper to repair than buy - you need to find a local machine shop and let them look. depending on how worn your cylinders are and how deep the scratch is you may get away with just a fresh hone and rings and re-use your pistons. you'll never know until they are measured with precision. joe

Have a well-equipped shop measure piston/wall fitment, and also have them take a look at valve stem/guide fitment.
At that point follow their advice and you should be able to 1), end any smoking issues, and 2), realize new power as well.

Anything you buy for a shovel that doesn't cost as much as the bike did needs to be checked & sized anyway , as Hills Country said find a decent shop and have it reworked is will be cheaper .

But still it is an assumption that the cylinders are scratched. You can check it out and see if that is so.
