Default oil lamp is on, oil is flowing?

Yesterday the oil lamp when on shortly after getting started. I've got a '72 FX. Returned back home and took the cap off the oil tank. Oil was returning to the tank via the upper return hose. Got plenty of oil in the tank. The bike has been running great otherwise. Running a stock motor with an S&S oil pump. At very low rpms the light goes on, but flickers with the rpms of the motor. Yesterday the light was bright and constant. I wonder if it isn't an electrical problem or is the pressure switch bad? Any input on that would be greatly considered,

Pressure switch is cheap and yours is 40 yrs old change it and find out and they will always flicker at an idle when hot , good move on checking the return flow to the tank .

@TwiZted
took another look at everything and decided the oil pump was operating correctly and drove off. After a few miles the light went off and hasn't been on since. I think it's the oil switch. I put a new one in last winter, but the taiwan **** doesn't last long anyway.
