So I replaced the pivot point bushing in the shifter linkage,,and shifting is still sloppy,I have to pull foot off peg to pull up into 2nd,and pull up before downshifting each gear,and sometimes misses 2nd and goes down into neutral,,frustrating.

 

So...off the top I am thinking readjust shft likage and if that does not work the second thing would be the pawl carrier springs are worn out and need replacement.

Had that problem on my 84 cowpie tranny and it ended up being the springs

 

What Trans do you have? A Ratchet Top or Cowpie?
