Default Primary isolation

What are the advantages of isolating the primary? Do you have to go to a wet clutch? I took apart the clutch a while after I first got the bike (82 FXRS) and there was little wear but it was partically oil soaked. Starting smoothly off the line was hard to do as the clutch would drag more as the rpms got closer. After cleaning the oil and breaking the glaze the clutch worked perfectly. Unfortunately after about 8K miles it seems the oil is getting back in and the clutch is grabbing more. Also how do the bearings inside the clutch basket get lubbed?

Default dry primarys

Most of my bikes are dry prims with 8mm prim belt set ups The 46 and the 52 have the old 3 finger clutch baskets like yours and the old prim chain oilers are re routed to the outside of the tin inner primarys Every other year I take the clutches apart sand the fibers and clean the steels Keeps them running great After going with these prim belts (NO BELT TENSIONERS) The orig prim chain system is obsolete in my book OK for the EVOS and up My 93 FLHS still has the orig prim chain set up (wet clutch system stock )
