Default Drive chain stuck between trans and inner primary

I just purchased a 73 shovel witch needs some work. The main problem is that the previous owner rode it with a loose chain and it came off and is now jammed around the front sprocket. i have not gotten a chance to work on it yet. i am hoping there is an easy way to get the chain out without removing the primary.
thanks

I think your best bet is to remove the inner primary, it will give you a chance to make sure the chain didn`t do any damage when it came off, and you can also inspect for leaks, check the condition of the sprocket, and address any other issues in that area.

i think that you are right. It would be in the best interests to remove the primary and make sure everything is ok. i have never removed one but i am pretty mechanical and I do have a service manual.
Thanks
