I just picked up a swing arm frame which is surpossed to be around 1967.Where the seat is the down tube which I believed housed the seat post on big twins is not there but it has a flat steel plate with a bend init linking the top where the seat is to the bottom frame at the rear motor mount. It has factory fat bob mounts and square swingarm fits. There are casting numbers at bottom where trans plates bolts to and are 47671-58-y at the top near seat post it looks like FF on one side and 7R02.There are no numbers on neck but belive there might have been I see a * at the top and * at bottom of number boss. Can any body help idenify this frame.
Up on the right side of the neck is this the place where you see the * marks ? Is the area between these marks flat and not round like the frame front down tubes ? This could be a 70's frame The pre 70's frames had no number boss The engine had the VIN #'s
The boss where the stars are flat and lower,I think the frame numbers were taken off,I believe its a 70's frame. The flat bar where the seat downtube was for a stroker set up.I really wanted a stock frame but I could work with this one,
Depends on the laws in your state. But in the State of California, if the VIN is removed , it can not be used. It is illegal to use one with the numbers removed unless there is a Certificate of Origin.

I think the law is the same here ,all I have is the pictures from e-bay and the correspondence with seller.I saved all transactions and printed them for documentation. In the short of it I got beat, good thing price was low, lesson learned.

Depending on your state, you might be able to take it to the Highway Patrol and have a number assigned. Just remember that there is chemicals that can raise the numbers that might have been ground off. If it comes back as stolen, you will need the documentation ro prove you didn't steal it. If not, you will be able to use it.
harley frames never had vin numbers till 1970.. if it is a 67 it wont have any vin's,they use the engine number..thats why they are called HD motor company..if the seat tube is missing and there is a flat plate where the seat mounts it is probaly aftermarket,or it has been modified
A 67 frame will have a key lock built into the neck. A 70 and later frame will just have a casting lump where the key lock would have been. They removed the lock in 69 and went with a drilled hole on a flange to lock the forks with a rider supplied lock. A frame with ground off numbers is subject to be seized so before you invest any more money get in clarified with DMV.
The frame was modified for a stroker, definitely a seventies frame has padlock hole.I am cutting my loss ,lucky it wasn't high price.I should have known it was too good of a price.Shame on me.
