Default 77 FXE Breather Gear O.D.

Re: 77 FXE
While installing my cam I decided to check my breather gear (steel) end spacing and found it to be 0.009”, no problem I’ll go up 0.005” on the thrust washer size and be good. Problem, all the thrust washers I’ve seen seem to have too large an I.D. for my breather gear. I’ve had the bike since 1985 so I don’t know if the stock breather gear was replaced and I’ve got an after market part installed. The breather gear has a thrust washer stud O.D. diameter of 0.185”; the thrust washer has an I.D. of 0.192”. If I’ve got a weird gear and end up having to replace the whole deal I’m not sure if the bore diameter is stock or has been machined to the 0.030” oversize. I can’t seem to find the stock breather gear body diameter information anywhere. My breather gear body O.D. is 1.124”. Anybody able to tackle this?

Forget the breather gear and try the new S&S reed valve breather setup. Does away with the gear driven and timing problems.
