Default Front and rear axle layout: 1980 FXEF

Howdy all,
Still ticking away, one bolt at a time on the rebuild. 1980 FXEF that I got from my aunt after my uncle passed away many moons ago. Got the motor back from Tatro Machine about a year ago and put it back in the frame. Working on finishing wiring for DYNA 2000i and other misc.

My current problem is making heads/tails of the various axles bushings/washers/nuts for both front and rear. I've got them all laid out and it's driving me NUTS!

This was a complete strip down to the frame project on Dec 23rd of 2004 and I'm just NOW getting her done! I'm in AK.

Thanks for any assistance! I can provide pix of the various parts if need be.

You really need to pick up a manual. Don't remember exactly but the rear is longer. Do you have a speedo drive on the front? That usually takes the place of a spacer, same with the rear caliper bracket. Check out shovelhead dot us, there is stuff you can down load plus a lot of knowledge on the forum.

Thanks! I do have the manual and parts book. I've figured out the front an arear axle but have all these damn spacers.

BTW, front wheel is a 21" laced that looks after market. Running twin disc up front.

Any help still appreciated. My main issue is figuring out which spacers to use. I HAVE them, just can't figure it out. Manual covers too many models to be helpful.

And for the umpteenth reply to my own post.
I've figured out the speedo drive (ordered a new one) goes on the LEFT (or nut side of the axle).
I have to large spacers that go just inside the hub. One is thicker and larger in outer diameter than the other. As I look at the exploded view on the parts manual, it shows too many different models for me to figure out which goes on the right and the left. Ideas???
