I have an 83 FLH Belt Drive with 4 speed trans does anyone know if a 5 speed trans from a FLHT of about the same year would fit I know there are alot of 5 and 6 speed trans I could buy new that would fit but funds are really low now there is a swap meet near us this month and I thought maybe I could find a used one from a FLHT

 

It will not You can buy a 5 speed in a four speed trany from CCI They are a good trany I have one with 8K miles Cost approx $1K

 

A 5 speed is something I would like to do to my Shovel. But, alas, 5 speeds that fit are expensive.

 

Like stated, It will take a 5 in a 4 to fit your bike. but with the lower first gear ya can go to higher gears on the rear and it will make 5th gear about like an overdrive. still keeping enough torque in 1st. Less strain at highway speed.
