Shovel manual
Hi there,
Small question from the Netherlands. About 2 years ago I bought a '78 FLH in quite a good state. It has been mildly customized by a former owner and a very sweet motor.
As I don't have a lot of experience with motorcycles, I am looking for a workshop manual for this bike. Just to give me some more insight in maintaining it by myself as much as possible.
Can you guys advice me on which one to get, and perhaps where to get it? What's worthwhile when owning a 30+ years old Shovel?
Thanks,
Ruud

I would go on-line and check on e-bay as they usually have that sort of item. I would recomend getting the Harley Service Manual and the Harley parts Manual Too!
The parts manual has lots of exploded views which are a good resource. There are other companies that also make manuals however they are no were as complete as the one from Harley.

I agree, the factory manual and parts manual are what you need. There are sites where you can get a cd version or a pdf version but nothing beats the real thing. They make a 70 to 78 manual and a 78 1/2 to 84 version. The difference is the later versions cover the electronic ignitions and flat top transmission. If you can afford it, get both.
