Help...i have a 1970 FLH dresser that seems to leak oil into the cylinders if not started a while, once the oil is blown out from one of the pipes under the motor it runs fine, it doesn't blow smoke once warm. Any ideas on how to fix??

 

If you are saying that once the bike sits for a few weeks and when you start it up oil runs out under the bike it could be comming out the vent hose.That happens when the oil drains out of the tank into the crankcase,so to see if that is what is going on just check the oil level when you park it and then again before you start it.If the oil level went down go check the oil system/breather.

 

It is wet sumping...the check valve in the oil pump is allowing oil that should be in the oil tank. to run into the sump while it is sitting. When you crank it comes out the breather. It could be trash in the check valve, or the seat could be scored. They make tools to refinish the seat...sometimes they work...depends on how bad it is. Worse case scenario you need a new oil pump.
