Default question 2: Passenger footpegs

Hi,

Can someone tell me where/ how the passenger footpegs were originally mounted on a 71 FX?

I found some brackets on e bay that look like they could attach to the frame behind the tip of the front exhaust pipe.

I'm trying to find a solution that will keep the little lady from burning her right ankle on the exhaust.........that tends to put her in a bad mood....

Any input would be appreciated!
Mat

The original ones were mounted to the lower shock stud.

1973 for sure maybe 72 moved them ahead to brackets on the frame.
There is a verticle two hole block on both sides of the frame just behind the swingarm bolt where the brackets mount and the peg goes on to them.

If your frame doesn't have the mounting blocks on it (a true 71 frame), you may have to install some type of universal pegs you could clamp to the frame tube. ..... billy g

It's a true '71, no such mounting blocks. I didn't want to install the foot pegs on the swingarm either, so it looks like I'll be using frame clamps + universal foot pegs.

Thanks for the info!
