Hi,

I just bought a 71 FX, and want to change the rear fender/ strut setup. The bike currently has an aftermarket fender, and curved struts, which don't really fit to the fender.
My plan is to install a bobtail fender like on the wide glide.

Which (model year(s)) fender struts will bolt on to a 71 frame??

Mat, go to the J&P catalog (offered on line). Their book shows struts for 72-84 models. They should fit yours as well. Believe they do not list 71 because 71 models were the boat tail fiberglass fenders

 

Yea anything to '84 was the same (FX, FXE, FXS).

A swap would be fine, if you're livin around Stuttgart, Germany...... Stuff just gets too expensive if I have it shipped from the states, by the time you add up international shipping costs, and usually customs/ tax. But thanks for the offer anyway.
