Default '76 FXE Rear Caliper

I'm a newbie.....I just bought my first Harley a few weeks ago and decided to tear it down. The frame is at the powdercoater so I've been cleaning and buying things to replace while it's apart. I pulled the rear caliper apart and it appears to be really worn. The hole's are eggshape and everything seems loose. Do they make a rebuild kit or something to salvage what I have?? I'm not trying to sound too cheap, but I'm on a budget build. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome aboard, J&P Cycles sells a Caliper Mounting Stud Kit for 1973-80 models. All new pins and bushings. Look them up on line and request a parts catalog.

I would also include a heavy duty rear caliper support spring ( not OEM ) J&P P/N 2400615 This device keeps the caliper from rattling from bumps along the road HD should have included this as part of the orig system but you can't sell replacement parts if the system lasts and lasts

If you pulled the piston, yea you gotta rebuild. If your just talking about the mounting pins for the pads. Clean 'em up good and add some silicone caulk into the bores and install, let dry a day or so. Did mine 17yrs ago, just took apart to replace, everything was good..... billy g

If I use a kit like this, I need to drill out the caliper??? I'm not against it, just want to make sure I know what all it's gonna take to get it done. Thanks.

If it's egg shaped you're going to have to drill it or ream it to the correct size. I'd contact retrocycle and ask them if the have the specs on it or know where you could get it. Any machine shop should be able to do the work for you if you don't have the correct size drill.
