Default Silicon-bronze guides and Manley S/S Vlv.

Way back in '76 or so, we of the Shady Rest Hotel and Motor-cycle Repair Basement, decided to try combining Silicon-bronze valve guides with Manley S/S one-piece valves in my '66 Shovel; the guides and valves being "new" to the market at the time, no seals were installed as we didn't think it necessary. And, as it turned out, they weren't!
Now, on my 84 Shuv, I'm thinkin' to try it again. Again, minus the seals.
QUESTION?: Does any of you-all can suggest a reason to do otherwise, based upon the intervening 30+ years of collective experience may show to be a wiser course?
Or simply; Why not?
Thanks in advance,
Skip, A&P
