1st you can call the MOCO customer service # 414-343-4056 and ask for Peter Simet. I just spoke to him the other day and verifed a Vin#. He will tell you what options came on the bike and exactly what it is, maybe a limited edition or whatever.
You can decode your # on the site I hang out at --
http://www.shovelhead.us/specs/vinearly.htm
I came up with this
7G51162H9
7G = model = FXS 80
51162 = seq. # = just a number
H = manufacture Code = 1970 to 1979
9 = year = 1979

Although it does not appear you are selling your bike, it is important to recall that it is the VIN from your frame not your motor which determines the model and year of the bike. The last year if the 9 digit VIN was 1980. Thus your motor may be a 1979 FXS, but for registration purposes, and for accuracy in describing the origins of the bike, it is the frame which is important. Now the bike may bear a slim resemblance to how it may have looked when it was made, but it is what it is...

thanx guys..i love these old bikes..the one in the picture runs like a bat out-of hell...[never seen a bat out of hell] must be a good thing.
