Hey all. New on this site. Wondering if anyone knows anything about AMF bikes ever having 11 digit VIN#. I've had a 76 FXE since '99 and always had trouble with DMV telling me VIN problem. The first two digits make sense, 9D for FXE, the last two digits make sense, H6 for 1976, but everywhere I've ever looked it says that following the model designation, it should be five digits for production number. For example, 9D12345H6. Mine has seven digits instead of five following the 9D. The engine case and frame stamp are identical so it never seemed like it was some kind of funny business. Just searching for some enlightenment if anyone's got knowledge!?
