Default What to buy?

This week I found out my bud has the big C . He needs to sell his 72 superglide. Two years ago he took it apart . It needs the bottom end rebilt. Here is my problem. Do I by it for 2500. and sink 2000. or so into it .Or by a 65 pan for 2500 that needs to be assembled?

I don't think either bike would be more than a short cruse bike. I live 20 miles out of town so i'd put 60 miles or so on a run.

Well if the guy with C is really your bud, then the choice is made. You buy his bike cause he needs the $.

OK, I took your advice and now I own a 72 Shovelhead . I got a price of 1500to2000 to rebuild the motor. The motor had a rod knock when it was taken apart. It's been 6 or 7 years since I had a motor done. Does this sound like a good price? I am now looking for 5 gallon tanks, wide glide front end, solo seat , and bobed rear fender. Any sugestions on where to look ? I see the stuff on e-bay but don't want to go that way if I don't have to. Thanks..

Personally, I'd buy the shovel because depending on your riding style and what your needs are, you can buy a stock bore stroker kit from S&S with the wheels already assembled and balanced to a new set of pistons for around $1200.00. It's all a 'plug & play' event. Then you get your heads cleaned up and get a brand new S&S Super E carb and ye doth be screamin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All for around yer 2 grand budget
