I have an ' 83 FXSB and it has a factory belt drive in the primary. I took the primary cover off and it looks like the oil is leaking out behind the compensating sprocket. I am going to pull the inner primary and make sure that is where it is coming from, but I guess it is leaking out the end of the crankshaft, because it is motor oil coming out. My question is can you replace a seal or something on the end of the crank without splitting the cases? Any info on this will be helpful....... thanks

 

Yep, there's a seal back there that can easily be replaced. I've also seen them leak out the screw holes for the clamp for the alternator leads.

 

Hi I am facing a similar problem. My transmission oil is leaking out thru the primary case side..Where can i buy rocker cover and transmission seals online .
