Anyone out there know what the normal engine oil operating temp. should be?
just rebuilt '80-80in. FLH shovelhead, and breaking it in,got less than a 100 mi. on it.
and the temp has been running at about 225-230 degrees.. was wondering if that is normal...or not......

230F isnt too bad as long as it doesnt go any higher. Ideal temp is 195F to 215F. If it gets any higher I would consider a oil cooler.

Ditto on the oil cooler and check to make sure you have no intake or exhuast leaks.
