hi.
first off check to see that you are getting oil to the pump.
try another gauge.
inspect the oil pump gears and keys for damage..
let us know what you find out.

Was it extremely hot outside and do you run straight 50 wt oil ? It only takes 3 #'s of oil pressure to keep the light off Never trust a gauge my knucklehead starts off with 35 #'s and after 15 miles drops to zero That's why I run clear hose on the return line to the oil tank so I can see the oil returning ! Your oil pump has a little more ***** than the old ones I run

A clogged return will cause oil to blow out the breather.

I'd say next step is pulling the pump. Screeching would lead me to think sheared key...

I would tend to agree. The screeching sound was probably coming from your oil pump. Pull it apart and see what it looks like, you probably got something in there and sheared a key. If you find something, be sure to figure out what it is and where it came from, as it may save you from more expensive repairs.
