Any Thought on Pushrod Cover Gaskets

RE: Any Thought on Pushrod Cover Gaskets
OK, I just bought 5 quarts of Mobil 1 15-50 CAR syntheic (oil?) I`ve read in other posts that I should flush the Flintstone out first. How intense should this flush out be? Fliter, a little lacquer thinner in oil bladder, blow out cooler and oil lines? Or much deeper than that? Can`t let any of the old farts I scoot with know about this until next Death Valley ride and there legs are all burnt from the heat coming off motor. I`ll still be letting the choke out for warm-up!!!!

RE: Any Thought on Pushrod Cover Gaskets
Sorry it`s takin so long to get back. I keep my bike up at my Dad & Mom`s place, out of place, out of mind. Seems whenevr we get in a financial crunch my toys are the things we have to unload to become solvant, NOT THE HARLEY!!! Anyway, changed the push-rod cover gaskets, timed it with a liming light (not staticly with acu-time) and last but not least, changed from crude to syntheic earl. In the almost twenty years I`ve run the shovel it has never run as smooth?? I guess that`s the best way to get it across. When I was at the high end of third it was running with less motor vibration than going 65 in fourth. Only got to but on about 60 miles or so, next weekend susposed to run out to 395 for a nice little trip. So far, can only sing praise about the change to syn-oil.
Thanks for all the Info, Daryl
P.S. Even the center CORK gaskets still weap a little and that`s with two installed. It`s still a lot better than every gasket leaking with the siclone type that I took out. Thanks
