1980 Shovel misfire.
I have a 1980 FXS with an Edelbrock carb on it. I have only had the bike for a few months. The motor ran very strong up until about a week ago when I started to notice a slight miss in the engine.
It only does it between like 2% throttle to about 10% throttle which lead me to believe that it was starving for fuel on the low end. It does it in every gear and when you get past a certain point in the throttle range it goes away.
So anyway I took the carb off and tore it apart hoping to find a bunch of debris but it was total clean inside. I deutched it out with carb cleaner and hit it with compresed air. Put it all back together and absolutly no change at all.
So do I have an electrical problem here and if so where do I start?
And I did put in a new set of plugs too.

Jason D,
I know absolutely nothing about the Edelbrock carburetor.
However, I have heard that they have a fairly strong throttle return spring on 'em.
When I hear that it makes me wonder if that strong spring would accelerate throttle shaft wear.
If the shaft, or whatever bushings it rides in are worn, it could develop a leak at certain shaft positions.
Just a guess.
Good luck.
