Don't turn down anything from the AMF years. They got a bad rap. I own a '76, and would own any model from those years. My '76 has been in every state but R.I., Hawaii, and Alaska. The only reason it's not on the road now, is that I totaled it in '04. But, it's soon to be back on the road.

I check Ebay all the time just for fun, I grew up with the shovels There is a lot out there now more than ever. If your not in a hurry something will show up in your area. It is getting harder to find something decent. Back in the 70's I was an auto tech during the day and H-D tech at night and believe me Harley wasn't doing anything different than GM or Ford at the time, everything was junk back then ! Chevs leaked more oil than a Shovel. I was looking for a complete FLH for some time (unaltered) and found a 78 FLH II last summer from Ebay, I still like to look though, I brought it home but haven't touched it yet. I've been picking up parts for it this winter and will start working on it soon. I don't want to completely restore it just make it look good again and keep it original. The 78 FLH II's came out in mid anniversary year and were the first 80 inchers and only came in Black Cherry with only 2500 made. I had one when they were new and sold it when kids came along, so I was glad to find another one. Make sure you get matching numbers, anything else is less.
