Engine won't start (no spark)
I really appreciate all the information posted on this forum. Even with the factory manual, there is no substitute for good ole fashioned experience, which, judging from the responses on the forum are absolutely solid.
New build - Electric start/kicker on my 1983 shovel.
Here's my problem.
Starter works but I can't seem to get any spark. The starter motor is definitely turning the engine.
a. Plugs are new, and gap is according to factory specs
b. I'm using a Bob McKay key switch (it has car-like spring action when firing the engine) from J&P cycle
c. Coil is a Dyna, from my old bike. The wiring to the coil from the ignition module I have on it is blue wire on top of coil, white wire on bottom of the coil in addition to another wire from the ignition circuit breaker running to the bottom of the coil. (Is this correctly done?)
The key switch has these terminals:
A= Accessory
B= Battery
C= Electric Choke
M= Magneto
S= Soleniod
What I have wired from this key switch are:
A
B
S
Should I have terminals C and M wired also? Common sense tells me I'm not running a Magneto or Electric Choke. This key switch they tell me is a marine or boat style switch. Fully waterproof and requires no relay.
Could it be my coil or ignition module that needs replacing. Any help will be fully appreciated!!
