Default Lowers for Shovel FLH

I'd like to put lowers on my early '84 shovel FLH-80.

I see that Harley offered metal lowers for FLH's upto '77 and then the later bikes with the Evo's, but nothing for '78-E'84 that I can find.

I've found these online: http://www.hoggchopps.com/,and I'm waiting for a response back from the company, but I'm not hopeful they'll fit.

Anyone tried putting lowers on a' 78- E'84 Electra-glide? Know of any that'll fit? Motify newer onestoo work?

Thanks for any info,

Jeff

Hi. I've been looking into the metal lowers you've added to your bike for my '77. How do you like them? Anywhere you'd point me for better pics or factory setup guides? I've got a line on a set but don't think they're complete and have only the '41-'84 parts catalog as a reference.

Factory manual has pics of the steel lowers. If you can find them they will be very expensive. They were an accessory that wasn't all that common. More common were the canvas lower wintsershield that went with the uppper that went around the handlebar area for winter riding (actually scored the upper for my 49).

In all my years of riding and working on bikes I have only had the chance to go hands on on one set that I installed on a 48 pan that was an 18-month work of weekends project.

Pic of the legs shields before they were mounted...

Jeff can't address the fiberglass that were offered on the FLHS evo-glides but I would be surprised if they fit only because of the frame design change which might affect the way the front crash bars mount. And don't know if the thickness of the bars changed which would also affect fitment.

And the steel lowers...if you find them... will work on FLH models up througth 84 since frame design did not change for FLH series.

At any rate please let us know when you get a reply back.

I bought leather lowers for EVO baggers.
Not PERFECT fit on my OEM shovel crashbars but they work fine

JPcycles... I got the cheapest set they had
Used them on my FXRT too even if crashbars are quite different.
You can tell they are not tailor made, but do what they have to.
On the FXRT the crashbar is right below the fairing, so there is no gap between the lowers and teh fairing
On FLHs the crashbars are quite few inches lower, so there is a gap. These lowers are the hoight of the crashbars, taht's it.
Molded rigid ones offer more protection I think because they go up higher

I got these:

Default Need pics of Winter Leg Shields mounted

Hey. So I finally have a pair of the metal lowers Jeff D. has that were sold from '41 to '77 but would really like to see closeups of them mounted. Does anyone have pics to post or send? I'll need to do some work to get the upper mounts attached to the crash bar, but need to see a closeup of the lower tabs and where they mount. (Am also missing a couple small parts but can make them.)

Looking forward to warm legs this winter.
