Electronic Ignition - new product?
I've done a search on the is forum and see mention of Dyna 2000x and HI-4, but nothing on the Mallory Unilite unit. Anyone know anything about these and how they work on Shovels? Would this work with my bone stock 1980 FXEF electrical components. I'm just looking for reliability, better performance and fuel economy (aren't we all..)
Thanks. Ed

RE: Electronic Ignition - new product?
Het Bro, you didnt give a whole lot of info. Is your stock ignition trashed? If its not then leave it alone. You cant buy a miracle for 130 bucks. Ignitions aint what thier advertisers say they are. You said your motor is bone stock, so no fancy ais ignition is gonna make it do wheelies and give you 60 mpg. On the other hand, if the stock ign. is trashed then go with a good ol' Dyna S or the Mallory. Ive used both and they both work.I dont know about any 2000x BS but I doubt that its any better (in the real world) than the S.
If it aint broke....wait a little bit.

Hi Kick, Thanks for the reply.
By 2000x, I meant both 2000s and 2000i ignitions. I've heard that the 2000s isn'treally that good. The Mallory is fairly inexpensive, but I don't see anyone using these on their shovels. Just wondering why.
The old girls goingto see a lot of highway miles next year and I'd rather replace things like that in my garage this winterinstead on the side of the road somewhere next summer. Besides, I've heard performance and gas mileage are overall better with electronic ignition. I know you usually get what you pay for, but are those others really that much better?
My ingntion isn't trashed, butI'm just trying to upgrade this and that (ignition, carb, gears etc..)and get it ready for the next riding season.
Thanks for the reply.
