Picked up an 84 FXWG that needs some TLC
I saw this bike on FB marketplace, it had been listed off and on for about a few months and I decided to see if I could make a deal.
I spoke to the wife of the owner, he passed away in 2016, he parked the bike for health reasons in 2014 so it sat on the lift that way for 10 years. It wasn't until this year that she felt it was time to sell it but wanted to find the right person which I understand. After a 4.5hr drive I met her in person and clearly she's still affected by the loss of her husband. She never saw herself without him in her life, he was her rock. Selling stuff sucks and the local Harley dealer offered her $700 for it. Slapped the widow in the face but she knew better and waited.
I love the front wheel, its what drew me to the bike. I dont like the seat, the bags and the live to ride stuff but thankfully the guy threw nothing out. She told me to go through the garage and find anything thats shovel related and its mine. She also gave me 3 full boxes of engine oil, primary fluid and other supplies. Parts that I found were the rear belt drive pulleys, the original front wheel with rotor, fish tail exhaust, headlight, oil tank, battery tray, box, hold down, another seat that isn't correct. Saddlebags, nose cone for the engine, derby cover, original tail light with plate bracket, original transmission gear set in andrews boxes, old pistons, original cam in an andrews box, old valves, springs, retainers, stock lifter blocks, lifters, pushrods and the engine has Jims lifter blocks in it. On a hunch I'm going to say all those andrews parts are in this bike, the engine and trans clearly looks fresh.

I noticed a couple of things, Indents in the sides of the rear fender for the reflector, my 82 doesn't have that. And the rear belt guard, I assume thats correct for a belt, it looks too wide for the chain conversion.
I took the engine guard off with highway pegs, the live to ride mirrors, bag mounts, sissybar pad and the obligatory skull badge that was on the back.
I just picked up a battery and fresh fuel. The oil tank is empty but I have a pretty good idea where it all went over the last decade of sitting. I'll add a quart to the tank so it has something to draw from and have drain pans under the vent and hope its not a massive oil spill.

I disliked the Indents in side of rear Fender myself...But, since I throw Nothing away...I had an Earlier O.E. FXWG rear fender..
I also Dislike the "raked" Tree ... but, there is Not a Zero Rake/De-Rake wide tree from H-D.. so... I live with the Handling Quirks of Raked Trees...
Edit; Would have been better had I stayed with the Longer O.E. Tubes...But...I dislike long Tubes also...
Aint Fussy Tho!!!!!
